Haute And Cool: Paolo Roversi

Photographer Paolo Roversi produces some of the most sensual, dreamy images in all of fashion. His fascination with photography began on a family trip to Spain in 1964. In 1971, Roversi met Elle magazine Art Director Peter Knapp, who two years later invited Roversi to visit Paris, which he did and has never left. In 1974, he began assisting British photographer Lawrence Sackmann, who, according to Roversi “taught me everything I needed to know in order to become a professional photographer.” While that may be true, it is Roversi’s own aesthetic that has made him one of the most sought after fashion photographers in the world and landed him jobs shooting for magazines like Elle Marie Claire and Vogue. Thames & Hudson have just released a fantastic new book of Roversi’s work, including a number of his large-format Polaroid images, such as the stunning black & white images of model Natalia Vodianova.
