I’m not a huge fan of modern motor sports, but I’m loving the absolutely brilliant series of photographs French photographer Laurent Nivalle has put up from this year’s Le Mans Classic. The biennial event is a gathering of vintage race cars, this year with more than 450 on the track and an additional 8,000 on display in the public exhibition. Laurent Nivalle’s photographs look straight out of a brochure for Porsche, circa late 60s or early 70s. His composition and details are wonderful, seamlessly blending wide cinematic angles with more intimate details shots, all perfectly color graded and toned. I especially love the shots of the drivers and the “quiet moments” between races. There are a ton of really fantastic photographs on his site, so be sure to take a few minutes and look them over. If you’re a car person, like my friend Vic, you’re going to just love them.
