Nikki and I both listen to a lot of podcasts, but, oddly, not many geared towards photography anymore. What we both love about them is that no matter what your interest, there’s at least one podcast that caters to it, and probably more than one. Most of the podcasts that we listen to regularly are really rooted in telling great stories. Recently, we’ve had a few people ask us for some podcast suggestions, so we sat down the other day and looked over our respective feeds to come up with Our Top 10 Favorite Podcasts. This is by no means our entire list, just the 10 we could agree on including. Enjoy.
Radiolab
This may just be my favorite podcast ever, even more so than This American Life, which is saying something.

This American Life
Ira Glass is one of the best hosts in the business and the stories on TAL are always interesting, especially if they involve David Sedaris.

99% Invisible
This is a recent entry into my Top Ten, but an amazingly engaging podcast. 99% Invisible is a weekly exploration of the process and power of design and architecture and explores how things are connected.

Q: With Jian Ghomeshi
Jian is another radio host hero. Smart, insightful and just a great interviewer. The show has guests ranging from Rush to Neil Degrasse Tyson on topics that are always interesting.

The Moth
Short stories, both fiction and non-fiction, told in front of a live audience.

True Story
Similar to The Moth. The stories are performed live, among friends, at themed storytelling parties in undisclosed locations.

TWIT
I’ve been a fan of Leo Laporte since his days on The Screensavers. Having him joined by Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose and John C. Dvorak is just icing on the cake.

TED Talks
The TED Conference gathers some of the most interesting, intelligent and insightful people on the planet. The podcast episodes are taken from TED conferences, TEDx events and partner events around the world. There’s also a video version available.

Here’s The Thing
I’ll admit that I was a little skeptical when I heard that Alec Baldwin was doing a podcast, but I must admit that the show works, especially the more recent guests, which have included Robert Lustig, Joseph Stiglitz and Renée Fleming.

On Taking Pictures
Come on, you didn’t really think we would leave this one out, did you? We think it’s one of the best photo-related podcasts out there.

So, there you have it, our top ten favorite podcasts, at least for the moment. What do you think? Do you listen to any of these? Are there some great podcasts that you think we need to add to the list? Let us know by leaving a comment. Oh, and if you are looking for a great app for listening to podcasts on your iPhone, Nikki and I both highly recommend Pocket Casts.
