A unique journey goes beyond destination. It is about courage, inspiration, dream, life. This journey is about a man who stood up for the ideals he believed in, a man whose victories but also defeats left a mark on the world, a man whose incisive words reached billions and still echo today.

Louis Vuitton have released the latest in their long running Louis Vuitton Journeys campaign, this time honoring the life of Muhammad Ali. Previous iterations of the campaign have featured the astronauts of Apollo 11, Keith Richards, Pele, Mikhail Gorbachev, Sir Sean Connery and Angelina Jolie. The centerpieces, at least for the print campaign, have been the spectacular portraits by Annie Leibovitz. This year, in addition to the wonderful portrait of Ali with a young boy wearing boxing gloves, Vuitton are producing a series of short films, featuring Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) reciting some of Muhammad Ali’s immortal words, accompanied by the calligraphic brushwork of artist Niels Shoe Meulman.
