“Kodachrome was the first color film. Before Kodachrome, you know, to get to see a picture of yourself in color, you had to hire an artist to paint one for you,” says Grant Stienle of Dwayne’s Photo in Parsons, Kansas. Dwayne’s was the last lab in the world to process Kodachrome film, including the very last roll, shot by legendary photographer, Steve McCurry. Xander Robin’s documentary looks at just how complicated and exacting it was to process the iconic film stock that has been used to capture many of the most important and memorable images in photography.
