Besides Instagram, one of the most go-to camera apps for the iPhone is Hipstamatic. People seem to love it for the unpredictability it gives. Being able to pair different films with different lenses and flashes gives you a multitude of options and it brings back the look and feel of the plastic toy cameras we used to play with as kids. Vitùc, a hobbyist filmmaker from Luxembourg, used Hipstamatic to create Yesterday, a beautiful stop-motion animation. He describes the iPhone as a “little thing with which you can almost do everything … even going back in time.” Taking over 3,000 images in one day to create the video, Yesterday is filled with photographs that are mesmerizing and haunting. Adding music by Reid Willis makes it a perfect combination.
