In December, we showed you classic photographs recreated in Lego. Well, not to be outdone, Barbie has also become the subject of classic works of art and photography. To commemorate Barbie’s 50th anniversary (she doesn’t look a day over 30), French artist, Jocelyn Grivaud, has created a collection based on classic works, such as Vermeer’s Girl With The Pearl Earring, Manet’s Olympia and Le Violon d’Ingres by Man Ray, among others. Titled simply, “Poupée Barbie” (Barbie Doll), the collection aims to, according to Grivaud, “adjust this so famous profile to different emblematic representations” and show the iconic doll in various incarnations of beauty, both classic and modern. We love the Man Ray piece. What’s your favorite?
