There are a lot of digitally manipulated images on the web, but Erik Johansson’s definitely tops the list in terms of quality. His work is flawless. You find yourself looking again and again wondering how he could have taken photographs like these because they look so real. What makes them more impressive is that his work is all his own. He comes up with the idea for the photographs, takes them himself, and then does the post-processing. A lot of the time he even uses himself as a model. He estimates that each photograph takes between 10 and 20 hours. That is from the actual concept to the finished product, which doesn’t seem like a lot of time. He says, “My goal is to make pictures as realistic as possible, but at the same time impossible. Many photographers try to look weird, so I try to make my shots as plausible as possible. I would say I try to use humor a lot and I rarely have a didactic message. Sometimes I want to tell something, but mostly I want people to interpret.” If you want to be inspired, be sure you check out more of his incredible work.
