Italy - Giuseppe Desideri

The Sublime Light of Italy

Reading Time: 1 minutes

I normally hold to the tenet that as a photographer you can’t look at other people’s backyards and say, “If I only lived there. I could get some fantastic shots.” You need to find the shots where you are, hone your craft in your own neighborhood. Then I see photographs like these from  Giuseppe Desideri and I want desperately to get on a plane to Italy tonight. Italy is one of those places where I know I would never get bored or tired of my surroundings. There would always be something new around the corner to shoot. Giuseppe Desideri’s landscapes of his home country look like they could be paintings from the 19th century with all of the detail and the skies filled with clouds and just a bit of light coming through. Some of them look almost like vintage postcards. One of these days I will make it to Italy with my camera, until then I will have to be satisfied with looking at these.

Wow. Talk about masterful use of light! And it snows in Italy? ;) You just never see photos of it with snow!
