“When you do the common things in life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world.” - George Washington Carver
I am a huge fan of Ditte Isager’s work. She is a Danish-born photographer who lives in New York, and I think it’s the combination of those two places that gives her such a unique style. She shoots a variety of subjects, from food to fashion, from interior design to still-lifes. Her use of lighting and the calm, cool colors make me want to live in her world.
Dave Engledow started this project when his daughter was born in 2010. Wanting to document her life in a meaningful way, he decided to take a humorous look at his new life as a father. The project has since taken off and now, with a total of 56 photographs, he is putting together his second calendar through Kickstarter. You can see all of these wonderful photos on his Facebook page.
I have had an obsession with food photography lately. My reader is filling up with food blogs and my bookmarks folder has more food photographers than I know what to do with. Recently, one of our readers sent me a link to Mowie Kay (thanks Rebekah!), and I knew he had to go on my list. While his portfolio is filled with gorgeous images, it was his Instagram feed that really caught my eye. Just beautiful, simple work.
