Five For Friday #20

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself. – Robert Frost

Adria Ellis - Winterhorse Bob Weil - Mysterious Stranger

If you’re in the Los Angeles area tomorrow and are looking for something to do you should check out the L.A. Mobile Arts Festival 2012 in Santa Monica. This exhibit is made up of art created solely with the use of mobile devices. It’s pretty incredible that we are basing whole art exhibits around devices that didn’t even exist ten years ago.  [via LA Times Framework]

Have you ever underlined certain passages in a book you’ve read? Evan Robertson has taken some of the little snippets of underlined passages from his own books to create these beautifully simple illustrations. “The illustrations incorporate and interact with the text,” says Robertson, “and hopefully add up to something that engages the mind as much as the eye. [via Huffington Post]

Stumptown Visuals recently sat down with well-known portrait photographer, Gregory Heisler, for a brief interview. His great advice for dealing with difficult subjects, “I find that sudden, unexpected physical violence goes a long way.”  [via Vimeo]

Arkadiusz Makowski Arkadiusz Makowski

I was sent a link to Arkadiusz Makowski’s work by a friend. Being busy with the writing and shooting for the eBook, I haven’t been able to get out and do much shooting just for myself. It’s work like this that makes me want to drop everything, grab my camera and go.  [via FStoppers]

The Vogue 120 The Vogue 120

Vogue has reached an unbelievable 120 years of publishing in the United States. To celebrate this milestone they have included an editorial fashion spread in their September issue featuring the 120 singers, dancers, actors, etc. which they consider to be the most influential people in fashion under 45.  [via My Modern Met]

Darius Twin

This last one I just couldn’t resist. I know it makes six, but consider it a bonus. Darius Twin’s light painting is almost magical. [via Framed Network]
