Five For Friday #14

Reading Time: 2 minutes

“The reason that art (writing, engaging, and all of it) is valuable is precisely why I can’t tell you how to do it. If there were a map, there’d be no art, because art is the act of navigating without a map.”  – Seth Godin

Jean Francois Campos

I am completely awestruck by the fashion photography of  Jean Francois Campos. His style is unique and elegant. There is something about the lines and curves that remind me of Avedon. [via Jean Francois Campos]

Mike Libby - Steampunk Insects

Sculptor Mike Libby   makes these incredibly detailed steampunk robot insects using bugs he either purchases from licensed dealers or the ones he finds right at hand. He combines them with parts from antique pocketwatches and wristwatches, electrical components and odds and ends from sewing machines and typewriters. [via Chase Jarvis]

Sky Walking

Dubbed “skywalkers” Marat Dupri and his friends have made it a goal to climb and photograph from the tallest buildings and structures in the world. Using no safety equipment he has scaled some of the tallest buildings in Russia and has now moved on to Dubai. From his vantage point he is able to take extraordinary photographs that have never been taken before. [via enpundit]

Gregory Euclide

Yes, these illustrations are beautiful, but what makes them more incredible is the artist, Gregory Euclide, a high school teacher who draws them on white boards during his half hour lunch break. [via Colossal]

Shawn Van Daele - Drawing Hope

The Drawing Hope Project was created by photographer Shawn Van Daele. He has just begun this inspiring series which features drawings done by children born or living with health conditions. The drawings are then magically transformed into photographs. Only the first four out of twenty have been completed, but he is already planning another volume. [via inspire first]

If you have something interesting you think we should feature on an upcoming Five for Friday, let us know.

Nice finds this week. I especially like the Jean Francois Campos pics. That style of photo (heavily processed fashion photography) is usually not my cup of tea, but these are so lovely it’s hard not to like them.

I’m loving your blog… found you via your podcast. Great stuff here, very inspirational. You’re bookmarked. I’ve been a long time reader of “The Online Photographer”. I could see your blog getting that big. Keep up the good work!
