If you have been here before, or follow us on Facebook, you know that we have been working on a very cool (pun intended) new project for some time now. It’s a project that has taken us well out of our comfort zones and we are thrilled to finally be able to share it with you. It’s our first eBook and it’s called chill. We had been talking about writing eBooks since we started Faded + Blurred in 2009, but just could never find the right fit. We knew we wanted to do something that featured photography, without it being about photography. We also knew that we wanted to really challenge ourselves, both creatively as well as technically. We were working on a completely unrelated project and one of us (we still can’t decide who) said something about doing “a cookbook sort of thing.” Neither one of us are food photographers, in fact, far from it, but the idea of it kept coming up, until we thought, “Why not?” So, we outlined a series of potential themes and decided to start with dessert. After all, who doesn’t like dessert first? Once we refined the outline and had a direction, we began researching ice cream; the history, the process, anything that would help us to make the book something special. We also read forums and blog posts and looked at a ton of food photography to help us learn what to and what not to do to make food look great. If you’re an ice cream lover, this eBook is going to hit you right where you live. Chill includes twenty amazing recipes; some new twists on classics like Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Strawberries + Cream as well as recipes you won’t find anywhere else, like Soo-Weet and Sucker Punch. In addition to the recipes, we’ve included a brief history of ice cream, tips to help you get better results, and photos … lots and lots of photos. We don’t think it could have turned out much better and hope that you enjoy it. On the off chance you aren’t an ice cream person, we’ve also made it easy to gift a copy to your friends and family. But, come on, who doesn’t like ice cream?
